Total addiction

Today I made the mistake of going to a book store. Oops... And a used book store at that! I am a complete book addict, and I love shopping at used book stores. You might find almost anything! I've turned up some really hard to find books in the past. I managed to only buy two books today, thank heavens! I was quite thrilled, I found a new Mercedes Lackey short story anthology, and a copy of the Ravenloft book "Vampire of the Mists" the very first vampire story I ever read. I can remember being around thirteen or fourteen and I got a copy of it from the bookmobile. I read it, and then when i was done I turned right back to the beginning and read it again. I just loved it. They way Jander (I think that was his name, I haven't had time to re-read it today and refresh my memory) was a good person and had to fight the evils of his own vampirism, the way he was a hero even though he was also an evil creature, and the sad ending was so poingiant... I just loved it. I hope that now that I'm ten years older *gasp!* I'll still like it as much.

It's what started my interest in vampirism. Or is that an addiction too? I love vampires stories, I'm just disappointed that so many of them are nothing but gore-fests or steamy romance stories in disguise. Honestly... am I the only author in the world who has ever written about a vampire who is married and loyal to his wife? I'd even settle for single and not prone to jumping in bed with every girl he meets. (Well, come to think of it, Jander didn't go in for jumping in bed, so I guess there's at least one.) Even the original Dracula tended to do that in his own way. *sigh* Anyhow, my addiction to vampire stories that started with that book ended up with my Flame Song and Aidan stories this last year, which are some of the best things I've ever written. Which reminds me, I need to update the literature section of my web page, seeing as how not a single one of the new Flame and Aidan stories are up there. All I have are the old ones from before Aidan became a vampire. Though sometimes I wonder if I should post my good stuff. I have some kind of hope of someday publishing the Flame and Aidan stories, though I'll have to resolve some copyright issues, since Mysteria, the world they are set in, belongs to somebody else.

I have a lot of my stories up on-line and I sometimes wonder if that's a wise thing to do. And yet I love showing them off. I'm surprised at how many people have told me they're eagerly waiting for the rest of the Dragon Queen story! I didn't think it was all that great... Which is another reminder, I need to finish it. Can't keep my eager fans waiting, and all that.

So that's today's news and random rambling. Ta da!
