One first prize of your choice of an unlimited tail and ear set, or two loonakits.
Two second prizes of your choice of a basic tail, or one loonakit.
Any number of honorable mentions and "booby" prizes for things I like and find interesting.
February 7th is the due date for all art. I will announce winners on Feb 8th, and will make and send out prizes by the end of February. You can turn in your art at any point from right now up until midnight pacific time on the 7th. You can also feel free to discuss your art and ideas with me beforehand, particularly if you're uncertain if something is okay, or want additional references or clarifications on how something should look.
Things I do NOT want to see:
Absolutely no sex. None. Nope. Nada. Also no really out there fetishes. Vore, cub, and scat are right out.
Things I am okay with:
Violence is fine so long as it is not extremely gory. (Blood is good, loving renditions of gaping wounds are probably okay, but getting kinnd of iffy, and innards showing on the outside are right out!) Flirting and innuendo are fine. Non-sexual nudity is fine, as is cheesecake, but I really don't want to see explicit views of aroused genetalia. Seriously. Tasteful is the word here. If you know me well enough to know my tastes in "kinky" and odd things, feel free to draw them, if you don't... ask before doing anything fetish related, please.
Theme: My characters doing stuff.
Yes, I know it sounds very vague. But I lean very far towards letting artists come up with their own ideas, I feel I get better art that way. Also I have a fair number of static portraits by now, and I think it will be interesting to have some action shots! It doesn't have to be dynamic action, but it does need to be doing something other than simply standing still. So there you are. If you want to include more than one of my characters, feel free. If you want to include your characters, feel free. If you want to include my boyfriend, you may wish to ask first, to be sure he's also okay with what you're doing, and get references.
Digital media or traditional media are both okay by me. If you do traditional media, I would love to own the original, and will happily pay for postage on any and all traditional media pictures. If you want to get weird and do sculpture, sewing, performance art, or something else funky and strange, feel free.
I will be judging based on three criteria. First and foremost is effort and execution. Drawings with time invested in them will be considered above quick sketches, and while I do not mean to be any sort of snob by it, those executed with skill are more likely to win, that's just how art contests go. (I don't mean this to be discouraging! I'm giving out three concrete prizes, and all sorts of praise and publicity as well to anybody who does something that I find interesting or enjoyable in any way! So even if you're no Dark Natasha, that doesn't mean you shouldn't enter.) Second is creativity. Have you drawn the character(s) doing weird stuff, interesting stuff, or some sort of novel take on "doing" or on "stuff"? These things are likely to catch my interest. Third is simply what catches my eye, what makes me laugh, and what I find to be aesthetically pleasing, even if it's something that is very simple, or something that's not wildly creative. I can't really sum this one up, other than to say that I'll know it when I see it. Notice that I do not list perfect accuracy in depicting my characters here. I am honestly very flexible about that. The reference art is a starting point, not a Bible to be copied exactly. If I wanted them drawn how I draw them, I'd just draw them myself!
Any art entered in this contest will recieve my profound thanks and gratitude, regardless of how quick and sketchy it is, how good it is, or any other criteria. (I mean, unless you break the rule above and draw me porn, or vore, or something like that, then I'm going to say rude things to you.) But I can't give a prize to everybody. I don't want anyone to feel the least bit pressured to enter. Enter only if you're going to have fun doing this! I would hate for somebody to pour tons of work into an entry, and then feel cheated because they didn't win first place. If you can't be happy if you don't win, you may not want to enter. Given the small prize I'm awarding I don't expet a ton of entries, but I am pretty sure I'll get more than three.
Flame Song Firedancer
She is a Threoa, or Firecat, a race of my own invention. She is also a shape-shifter and can take any form. Her personality is much like mine, except with less temper, and more motherliness, as she is the mother of four children, Serapha below being one of those. She is married to Aidan Rhiannon. Things she might be doing: nursing a child*, hunting food (she is a predatory cat, after all) cuddling her husband, playing with shifting into different shapes.
*Most of her children are much like her anthro form, half human, half firecat, but see below for Serapha, who mostly looks human, and there is also one that mostly looks firecat.
Aidan Rhiannon/Aidan Darkangel
http://www.sparkcostumes.com/artwork/albums/batchupload2/ff.jpg (Lovely reference art not by me.)
Both Aidans look the same, (save for Darkangel sometimes wearing his hair long, rather than short) but Rhiannon is an ex-theif who was civilized by his wife Flamesong, and is now a very good and responsible sort, while Darkangel was a mage who was corrupted as a young man and then regretted it and turned over a new leaf, but still sometimes has evil moments. Both are vampires, but Rhiannon would never bite anybody without asking, while Darkangel has been known to do the whole Dracula-style half-willing seduction thing. Rhiannon favors dark colors and simple clothing, Darkangel is a bit flamboyant. Rhiannon is straight and monogamous, Darkangel is bi and flirts shamelessly. Things Rhiannon might be doing: flying, cuddling his wife, picking a lock, juggling daggers from his extensive collection, brooding. Things Darkangel might be doing: cuddling anybody, flying, casting spells, summoning demons, traveling to different dimensions, brooding.

Serapha is the daughter of Aidan Rhiannon and Flame Song Firedancer. She is a shape shifter, but has a strong preference for imitating her father's form, so she is most often a winged human girl. She is also a vampire, but she doesn't do the emo brooding thing. She is the character of mine who is most often depicted with my boyfriend Jordanis, either his mage Jordanis character or his sci-fi setting Emperor Jordanis character. (Both are golden, NOT black backed jackals.) She has had a very long life, has been through several relationships, and has tried more or less everything at some point. She might be doing nearly anything, but some particularly likely things are: going on flights with her father Aidan, "skydancing", reading or writing, casting spells, studying magic, or piloting a spaceship.
SPark the Purple Dragon
http://bladespark.topcities.com/art/jyiis.gif (Not by me, but very pretty and a good example of what I mean when I say I'm flexible about how my characters come out.)
SPark is me, with scales on, colored purple. Her size is variable, from kitten sized on up as big as she cares to be. She does the things I do, so sewing, reading, drawing, hanging around with friends, hanging around with my boyfriend, snarking at really stupid people, staying up too late and getting "drunk" on sleep deprivation, etc.
None of the Kirjak's reference art is by me. The Kirjak is a concept more than a real character. He is a muntjak-based kirin. (Muntjaks being fanged deer, and kirins being oriental unicorns.) The Kirjack can be anywhere on the spectrum from full animal to full human, but always has a horn in any form he wears. I love how he looks, but he doesn't have much personality yet. So honestly he might be doing anything at all. Though I suspect he is both rather vain and more than a little emo sometimes. So he probably admires himself in the mirror a lot, and broods a lot.
Yin is the Big Bad Wolf. Yin is usually trouble. Yin can sometimes be cuddly and friendly but is more often bristly and homocidal. Or even friendly and homocidal. Yin likes violence. Shi likes it a lot. Shi is a female-leaning hermaphrodite. Yin might be: starting a fight, ending a fight, teasing somebody, snarking at somebody, shooting at somebody, biting somebody, getting pissed off at somebody...
http://bladespark.topcities.com/art/guardian.jpg (art not by me)
I only have one reference of Guardian, but Guardian doesn't need to look like that. Guardian must be an oriental dragon, and must have the colors purple, gold, and red somewhere, but the details are never set. Guardian is a Guardian, and a comforter as well. Guardian never speaks. Guardian has no gender. Guardian might be fiercely defending someone or something, attacking someone or something evil, comforting someone, cuddling someone, or licking the wounds of someone. Guardian frequently sits on YinWolf and strongly indicates shi should calm down whe shi is losing her temper.
Included mostly because I lack good art of her entirely. Angelcat is me, only more religious. Angelcat takes nearly everything seriously, but does have a little bit of a sense of humor. Angelcat is friendly, but prone to evangelism. Angelcat might be: reading the Bible, talking with friends, going to church, going for a walk, giving a sermon, praying.
Any of these characters might be interacting with any other character, though Aidan, Flame, and Serapha are the ones who actually do so in my written works. But they all bounce around into each other in my head.
P.S. If I get a whole ton of entries, (more than a dozen) I will add more second prizes, just to increase people's chances.
